Massimo Bartolini. On Identikit

From Sunday 16 February  CSAC – Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione dell’Università di Parma reopens the renovated and restored spaces of the Valserena Abbey with the installation of Massimo Bartolini entitled On Identikit, the first appointment of the artist residences Through time: integrità e trasformazione dell’opera, created on the occasion of Parma Italian Capital of Culture 2020.

The artist intervenes on the space in a completely anti-monumental way, modifying it, interpreting it and defining it. In this case, Bartolini was invited to confront the CSAC Archive-Museum of Parma, which preserves over 12 million original materials of visual communication, Italian artistic and design research starting from the first decades of the twentieth century. A very precious patrimony on which the artist has worked by interpreting its elements as if they were musical notes: if approached to each other, they make you see something different than when they are considered alone. Archives are therefore places where “music is created”, where objects and works can, in an involuntary and irreversible way, become something else.
